EX-FL Fantasy Football Keepers

New rules noted in green...

Returning teams are entitled to keep a single player from their regular season-ending roster. The player can be kept either at draft value (still on the team AND drafted) or Average Draft Position (ADP) on draft day.

  • Keeper candidates are players that were on your team at the end of the regular season.
  • If drafted, keeper will be pegged for that round.
  • If picked up or traded for mid-season, keeper round is conditional based on the players current ADP on draft day.
  • In order to protect against freak injuries or huge value adjustments, keepers may be optionally forfeit anytime until the first pick of the draft.
  • A player already having been kept the prior year may only be kept for ADP the second time. Further, and to prevent hoarding, a player can only be kept a maximum of two times following the year they were added to the team. Re-drafting the player resets the count.
  • A new player entering the league may choose to keep ONE player from a vacating manager's end-of-season roster (assuming one is available). This will be handled on a first come, first serve basis. When a player is selected from a vacated manager's roster, that roster no longer a candidate for subsequent keeping.
  • A player who left the league DOES NOT get to keep from another vacating team if/when they decide to return in the future.
  • Keepers must be declared 24 hours before the draft so early draft pick players have an idea of who is still available.

Determining your Keeper

  1. Access the EX-FL League HomePage.

  2. Select the prior season from the Select Box (top of page).

  3. Access the "Draft Results" area from the menu.

  4. Change the view to "Team" so it's easier to read.

  5. Find your team and make note of your draft results.

  6. Now, select "Matchups" from the menu.

  7. Click arrow back until you reach your final regular season matchup.

  8. Make note of the players you ended with (don't forget your bench).

  9. Compare your ending team with your draft.

In this example, the owner, let's call him ME, drafted David Montgomery in the 5th round, and he was still on ME's team at the end of the season. As of this writing, FantasyPro's Half-point PPR ADP value for this player is 33. This means, on average, he would go in the 3rd round of a 14 team draft, but ME could "keep" him for his 5th round selection. Now, if ME hadn't actualy drafted Montgomery, he could still keep him, but would need to give up his 3rd round selection. Depending on how much ME personally likes/believes in Montgomery, maybe this is still a strong play.

Choose wisely!
